Meet Jason Ferguson, a litigation attorney at Daniel Stark.
Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Jason’s early years were marked by a love for baseball, envisioning a future as a professional player. He pursued his academic interests, majoring in philosophy at Texas Tech University. It wasn’t until his final year that he considered law school—a decision made on a whim, but it paid off.
Attending the University of Houston for law school, Jason filled his schedule with classes that piqued his interest, rather than adhering to a predetermined career path. This approach led to his role as a major crimes prosecutor at the age of 26.
After nearly a decade as a prosecutor, his career took a significant leap when he was appointed as a United States Immigration Judge in Dallas, an opportunity that melded his legal expertise with his compassionate nature. He is renowned for his trial skills and has taught advanced trial skills and strategies around the world – from across the United States to the UK to the UAE.
In 2022, Jason embarked on a personal adventure, moving to the Netherlands with his family. There, despite experiencing some of the harshest weather in recent years, he embraced the rich, vibrant Dutch culture. Surrounded by the allure of Europe, just short train rides to Brussels, Paris, and Germany, the experience broadened his horizons and enriched his family’s life.
As he considered moving back to Texas, Daniel Stark’s reputation stood out to him. He decided to apply and came to visit the firm for a couple of weeks before flying back to the Netherlands.
Jason joined Daniel Stark in May 2024. He was struck by the genuine camaraderie and supportive culture within the firm and was impressed by the authenticity and the shared commitment to excellence and to the community.
He notes the similarities between plaintiff personal injury and his prosecutorial work—both roles advocating for the “good guy” and seeking justice for those affected by life-changing incidents.
Outside of the courtroom, Jason is passionate about spending time with his family, which includes his adventurous 8-year-old daughter, Audrey, and 7-year-old son, Jack. Together with his wife, they relish witnessing their children explore new interests, from tennis camp to discovering the joy of the great outdoors. An avid tennis player, reader, golfer, and beach enthusiast, Jason also treasures his Texas roots as a devoted Rangers fan.
Now based in the North Austin office, Jason brings his wealth of experience, passion for justice, and commitment to the community. We are so lucky to have him as part of our team.
