We are excited to announce that our May Charity of the Month is the Ronald McDonald House in Temple, Texas!
Our May Charity of the Month was inspired by one of our very own staff members, Stephanie Lane. Stephanie is getting married in just a few months, and her and her fiance actually forewent their wedding registry and instead registered for the needs of the Ronald McDonald House in Temple! Stephanie has a heart for this organization because before joining our team at Daniel Stark, she was a teacher for 5 years. She has always loved working with children, and many of her students suffered from cancer and other ongoing illnesses. More often than not, her students’ families were not able to afford the care they needed on top standard living costs. With an organization like the Ronald McDonald House, many of these children would have been able to obtain the treatment they needed because their families would have been able to have housing assistance.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities is a worldwide organization that provides a “home-away-from-home” for many families while their children seek medical treatment for illness or injury. The house located in Temple, Texas (one of over 300 houses!) is predominately for young children, mostly newborns, treating at local medical facilities. Families must be recommended to stay at the house by a social worker, doctor, or nurse and consideration is based on how far a family is from the medical facility that their child is treating at. The organization provides housing at a minimal cost per day for families and seeks to provides them with as much normalcy as possible during their loved one’s treatment.
“Families are stronger when they are together, which helps in the healing process. By staying at a Ronald McDonald House, parents also can better communicate with their child’s medical team and keep up with complicated treatment plans when needed” – Ronald McDonald House Charities Website. What better way to give back then to help families remain united during such a critical time in their children’s lives? It is truly an amazing charity because it allows parents and families to focus on their children’s health by being able to love and encourage them by their side at the Ronald McDonald House. This is exactly why this charity is so dear to Stephanie and has also become so dear to Daniel Stark as it helps those that are right in our community.

Our Charity of the Month program is governed through our Facebook Page. For every ‘Like’ our page receives during the month of May, traditionally, we will donate $1 to the Ronald McDonald House in Temple. This month since Stephanie has created a registry of items they are in need of, we will be purchasing as many items as possible from the money we are able to raise to give to the Ronald McDonald House in Temple.
