Motor vehicle collisions are plaguing one neighborhood in Austin, Texas, prompting residents to take action.
According to an article from KVUE News, 15 crashes have occurred along River Place Boulevard, near RM 2222, since the beginning of the year. Most recently, a motorist, believed to have been under the influence of alcohol ,crashed into a sign. In June, a motorist struck three pedestrians.
This string of crashes has forced the nearly 2,000 residents of the neighborhood surrounding River Place to hold a meeting to discuss a resolution to the problem of increased car accidents. So far, options such as increased law enforcement patrols and better signage have been discussed.
Until a resolution is found, the Austin Car Accident Lawyers with Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers offer motorists these tips to stay safe:
- Slow Down– Studies have shown speed is a factor in roughly one-third of all fatal accidents.
- Buckle Up– The proper use of seatbelts can reduce the chances of a fatality in a crash by as much as 30 percent.
- Eliminate Distractions– Engaging in distracting behavior, such as texting or taking calls while driving, is quickly becoming a leading cause of motor vehicle collisions.
- Don’t Drink and Drive– Alcohol consumption is believed to play a contributing factor in roughly 30 percent of all motor vehicle collisions.
The firm’s team of Austin Personal Injury Lawyers hope these tips help keep motorists and their families safe!
