We are thrilled to announce that our June Charity of the Month is….
The Brazos Valley Food Bank’s mission is to alleviate hunger in the Brazos Valley by distributing food and educational resources to their neighbors in need through a network of hunger relief partners.
The Brazos Valley Food Bank strives to reduce food waste by utilizing an organized and efficient system to acquire and reclaim food that might have otherwise been wasted and distribute food to accredited agencies that ensure that food is sent to people in need. They are accountable for the most efficient and effective use of their resources and increased individual and community awareness and action regarding hunger and potential solutions. They play a leadership role in discussions and actions to resolve hunger issues within the community as well. The Brazos Valley Food Bank values the diversity they serve and seek to understand the needs of the people in the community while recognizing the right of all human beings to be treated with dignity and respect and seek to pass these values on to their partner agencies who work directly with the hungry.
According to feedingtexas.org, 22.7% of the people that live in Brazos County are in food insecure homes. 26.5% of children live in these same homes which means that roughly 10,760 children in our community are at risk of hunger.
For every ‘Like’ our Daniel Stark Facebook Page receives during the month of June, we will be donating $1 to the Brazos Valley Food Bank. This is an incredible way for you to help us help our community and keep our neighbors from going hungry. Please share the word and like our Facebook Page!
