Meet Steven Hooker, a seasoned litigation attorney and new Partner at Daniel Stark.
Steven was born and raised in the bustling city of Houston, Texas, near Memorial City Mall, just on the other side of busy I-10W. Growing up in a vibrant and diverse neighborhood, he enjoyed an active childhood filled with friendships, sports, and exploration.
Houston’s dynamic environment provided a rich backdrop for Steven’s early life experiences. During childhood, martial arts – specifically Judo – gave way to competitive travel baseball in his teenage years. This later culminated in all greater Houston accolades in High School and, soon after, an athletic baseball scholarship to Texas A&M – Kingsville, where he pitched from 2007-2009.
Following the 2009 season, Steven transferred to the University of Houston, where he initially considered the continuation of his baseball career but ultimately decided his life trajectory was best served by re-focusing on academics and gaining admission to law school. Steven graduated cum laude from U of H in 2011 with degrees in Psychology and Philosophy.
After receiving his undergraduate degrees, Steven attended law school at Texas Tech University School of Law. Steven thrived in the competitive environment at Texas Tech, participating in many advocacy competitions, where he found particular success in the negotiation forum – never failing to advance into the deeper rounds, and once to the finals. Steven also received a “distinction award” in trial advocacy during his last year of law school.
Steven’s interest in personal injury law began in his second year of law school, when he began a clerkship for a prominent PI firm in Lubbock, Texas. Following graduation, Steven had a brief stint as a defense lawyer but quickly realized that his talents were best served by helping those injured through no fault of their own, not assisting insurance companies in saving money.
To that end, Steven returned to the Plaintiff’s side in June of 2015 when he first joined Daniel Stark – drawn to both its culture and purpose. Originally hired as a litigation attorney, Steven transitioned to being the firm’s first hybrid (prelitigation and litigation combination) attorney before returning to a full litigation docket with much larger cases. His experience and success allowed him to grow within the firm, entering the leadership ranks in 2019 as an Attorney Team Lead and promotion to Partner in 2024.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Steven is passionate about building client relationships and making a real, lasting difference. Steven finds true happiness in guiding his clients through what, for many, amounts to the darkest period of their lives.
Outside of the office, Steven enjoys reading, lifting weights, running and hiking, frisbee golf, saltwater fishing, periodic hunting trips, and actively seeking out new experiences through travel. Steven and his wife, Bianca, share two children, Nolan and Natalie. Bianca is currently a fitness instructor for Fit for Mom in College Station and was previously an elementary school teacher for many years.
Steven is an honored member of the Daniel Stark team, and a large portion of our firm’s success can be attributed to his tenacity and aggressive advocacy for our clients. We are so proud to have him as an attorney and Partner!
