BRYAN, Texas — Daniel Stark, a Texas-based personal injury law firm, is hosting their 17th Annual Car Seat Safety Check event, scheduled for Saturday, September 14, from 8:30-11 a.m. at the Brazos Center in Bryan, Texas. Daniel Stark encourages community members from the Bryan/College Station area to come by to receive a free car seat and free car seat assessment.
At the event, certified technicians will evaluate each car seat for safety compliance, replacing any that fail to meet the necessary standards with brand new seats, and offering free installation.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 756 children died in car crashes in 2022, with 39% of those children being unrestrained. However, only one in five parents regularly check their child’s car seat for correct installation, and 46% of children are not properly buckled up. Correct usage of child safety seats lowers medical costs, prevents lost future earnings, and improves the quality of life for children after a collision.
Linda McMillan, public communications director at Daniel Stark, shared the motivation behind the event. “After our founding partner, Danny Daniel, and his wife had their first child, he realized that trying to properly install a car seat was a real struggle. He figured he wasn’t the first person, or the last, to have a hard time with this,” said McMillan. “He wanted to help educate other Texans on how to keep their children safe in the car.”
For nearly two decades, Daniel Stark has partnered with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and Save a Life TxDOT to distribute and install free car seats for Texas families. During last year’s Seat Check event in Bryan, 54 car seat inspections were conducted for the Bryan/College Station community. Daniel Stark looks forward to serving even more families in need this year.
