BRYAN, Texas — Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers hosted their 17th Annual Car Seat Safety Event on Sept. 14, 2024, in Bryan, Texas. The event provided essential car seat inspections and distributed new child car seats at no cost to families who needed them.
Daniel Stark partnered with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and Save a Life TxDOT to conduct safety inspections and replace car seats that did not meet the necessary criteria. During the event, 113 car seat inspections were conducted. In total, Daniel Stark provided 93 new car seats to local families.
Over 30 students from Bryan Collegiate High School volunteered to join Daniel Stark and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension during the event.
“We decided to volunteer today because this is a great opportunity to help our community,” one student said. “The kids need it, and we are here to help!”
During this event, only one of 113 children arrived in a properly restrained car seat. This alarming statistic highlights the critical need for increased car seat safety awareness. Proper use of child safety seats not only reduces medical costs, but also prevents lost future earnings and improves a child’s quality of life following a collision. According to Texas A&M AgriLife, the Bryan event had an estimated economic impact of $234,889.
Adam McWaters of College Station, Texas, attended the event with his wife and four children. They go to the event every year to ensure their children’s seats are safely and correctly secured in their vehicle. This year, they wanted to see if their older children were ready to move into different car seats.
“I think this event has a positive impact on our community because it provides knowledge to people who may not know much about car seat safety and makes our vehicle safer for the kids, which is most important,” McWaters said.
